Highfield
Road Pre-School is situated in Springvale Road, which is just a few
minutes walk from Central Dartford.
We
are open from 9.30am - 12pm Monday to Thusday.
From
1pm - 3.30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, we offer a unique
"Get Set For School" session, which prepares your child
for primary school, covering topics such as PE, Workbook, Library
Lending and Projects.
Highfield
Road Pre-School adopts a "Keyworker" approach, where our
qualified staff observe, talk and play with the children, whilst recording
their experiences. Approximately six children are allocated to one
keyworker for recording purposes, this helps us to develop and implement
activities geared towards each childs individual needs.
We
understand that Children need a safe and structured enviroment to
play and learn, with particular emphasis on working towards the Early
Learning Goals, which is why we have the use of two halls and a secure
outdoor play area.
What
are the Early Learning Goals?
We
also provide the children with a variety of healthy snacks on a daily
basis and fruit once a week.

Each
week we plan a theme for your child, these are displayed on a notice
board in the small hall during each half term. Our 'interest table',
'crafts', 'stories', 'show and tell time', all revolve around this
theme. 'Show and tell time' encourages the children to bring an item
in each day related to the weeks theme.
Most
of our activities take place in the main hall, we use the smaller
hall for craft, cooking, model making and activities, such as sand
and water play, painting and play dough. Your child will indulge in
messy play and you should bear this in mind when dressing them.
We
always organise an end of term summer party. This July, we organised
a party for all the children, giving them an opportunity to enjoy
a bouncy castle and disco. Photos can be seen on our Gallery
page.
Following
the end of term, we arranged our annual coach trip to the seaside
for the staff, the children and their families. This year we went
to Ramsgate and as usual the trip was very well attended and proved
to be great fun for the children during their summer holiday.
At
Christmas we have a party, when Father Christmas makes his annual
visit to bring gifts.

For
health and safety reasons no jewellery is permitted other than small
ear studs.
It
would be helpful for us to know about any changes in your childs wellbeing,
all information is strictly confidential.
If
your child has a contagious illness or sickness and/or diarrhoea,
they refrain from attending pre-school for 48 hours after the last
bout.
If
your child does not drink milk, please provide a drink for them in
a container clearly labelled with their name.
Soft
shoes should be worn whilst attending the group.
Whilst
waiting for the pre-school to open, it is important that your child
and siblings are supervised at all times. The stoned area, steps and
wall are completely out of bounds due to health and safety reasons.
No
other toys other than related to the weeks theme should be brought
into the group.
PLEASE
READ OUR NOTICE BOARD INSIDE THE SMALL HALL, AS WE ADD TO IT ON A
REGULAR BASIS.
